At the São Paulo International Motor Show Volkswagen has presented the Taigun Concept, a compact SUV that evolves the design of the brand’s New Small Family.
Volkswagen introduced the Taigun concept at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show and new details are starting to emerge about the production model.Autobild is reporting the entry-level crossover will be launched in 2016 and be based on either the Golf or Up!. The latter platform seems to have the edge as it would keep costs down and allow Volkswagen enough wiggle room to build the rumored Polo-based crossover. Engine options remain unconfirmed but speculation suggests the Taigun could be offered with three- and four-cylinder units. Front-wheel drive should be standard, but all-wheel drive is expected to be optional. If everything pans out, the Taigun could cost approximately €15,000 which would make it roughly €5000 less expensive than the next-generation Tiguan.
